Bed Bugs like places that have textiles and upholstered furniture and this generally means they gather in beds. You can find bed bugs in the mattress, box spring and on the bed frame. You can try and identify bed bugs that may be living on or near your bed. Look for their fecal stains, egg cases and their shed skins in places near your bed such as crevices and cracks. Bed bugs can also be found in places such as under wallpaper, behind picture frames, in couches and other furniture.

If you find signs of bed bugs such as fecal stains or their shedded skins it doesn’t mean their is an active infestation. The best way to determine if you have an active bed bug infestation is to observe the bed bugs themselves as they move around. Sometimes this can be hard and professional help may be needed.

You could try getting out of bed just before dawn and turning a flashlight on and looking carefully over your mattress for signs of live bed bugs.

Carpet tape is another good way to capture bed bugs if you have them. Lay some strips of double sided carpet tape out on the sides of your mattress, away from where you sleep. If you have bed bugs then there is a good chance some will get caught in the tape.
